MacBook Air 2012 and iPad 3 review

MacBook Air and iPad has been upgraded from the last year models. So, I thought of buying them in order to feel the difference. So yeah, I bought both of them yesterday and therefore in this post, I want to do two reviews about these two awesome gadgets made by Apple.

16GB Apple iPad 3 Wi-Fi + Cellular (RM 1899)

General specifications

Retina Display (2048 x 1536 resolution)
Dual-Core A5X Processor
Quad-Core Graphics
1GB RAM
5 Megapixels iSight rear camera with 1080p Full HD Video Recording and anti-shake
VGA Front Facing Camera

Just in case if you don't know, iPad 3 is also called The New iPad. In my personal opinion, iPad is very fun to use and I always use it to browse the internet and watching videos on YouTube. The battery can last very long. With my usage, a fully charged iPad can lasts about two days and if you use it continuously, it can lasts around 10 hours.

Other than that, the 5 Megapixels iSight Camera that is available on the iPad 3 can take a very good picture, the same with the Full HD Recording compared to the previous iPad 2.

With Dual-Core A5X Processor, iPad 3 is able to deliver fast and smooth performance to its user. This means no or less lag when performing tasks. The same with its Quad-Core Graphics. It is capable of delivering great 3D visual and therefore making iPad 3 suitable to play 3D games.

Last but not least, Retina Display that is available on the iPad 3 is outstanding. You can't almost see the pixels on the screen because they are so tiny. The screen has 2047 x 1536 resolutions which is a lot compared to the previous iPad 2 and it has far more pixels than 42 inch Full HDTV (1920 x 1080 pixels) that you have at home.

128GB 2012 11.6 inch MacBook Air (RM 3399)

General specifications

128GB SSD
HD Ready LED Display (1366 x 768 Resolution)
1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz
4GB DDR 3 RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000
720p Facetime HD Camera

To begin with, this is easily one of the best ultrabooks that you can use. It has a very comfortable keyboard and trackpad. It is also very thin and light although the body is made from aluminum. However, the design is the same as the previous MacBook Air, but with hardware improvements.

With SSD, every tasks become so much faster. For examples, opening applications, start up time and shut down time become insanely fast. Thanks to the SSD because it doesn't have any moving parts like HDD and this makes it much more faster and durable than HDD.

1.7GHz (2.6GHz Turbo Boost) Dual-Core i5 Processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB DDR 3 RAM give MacBook Air an amazing performance and major improvements than the previous model. It enables you to play 3D games like Portal, doing photo and video editing quite nicely.

As for the battery, there is nothing much to to brag about. A fully charged 11-inch MacBook Air is able to lasts as long as five hours.

Lastly, although MacBook Air is small, it truly has an amazing performance for an ultrabook. The body that is made from aluminium gives it a very nice and exclusive look compared to other ultrabooks in the market.
